Office fit outs often require the re-positioning of the existing fire protection systems and equipment to suit the new office layout.

A typical smoke detection system to AS1670. 1 in an office may require a smoke detector in every room, spaced every 10 metres and no more than 5 metres from the wall to achieve compliant coverage.

Every wall that has been moved, every office that is added, may require the addition or relocation of smoke detectors to ensure the entire space remains compliant and can operate as designed.

The same example (with its own specific spacing requirements) can equally apply to:

  • Automatic Fire Suppression (Sprinkler) Systems.
  • Fire Hydrant Systems.
  • Fire Hose Reel Systems.
  • Portable Fire Extinguishers.
  • Smoke Detection and Alarm Systems.
  • Emergency Warning and Intercommunication Systems.
